As part of a wider programme of backlog maintenance and reconfiguration works for NHS Grampian over a 5-year period, Kier were appointed to deliver the permanent relocation of the Eye Outpatients Department (EOPD). The programme of works removes identified ligature risks as well as implementing a standard room configuration for the wards to allow the Board flexible use of the facilities in the future. New build Ophthalmology & Surgical Centres, Golden Jubilee National Hospital
Golden Jubilee Foundation £58m
A phased programme of new build developments at the Golden Jubilee Hospital includes an innovative new unit bringing together all ophthalmology procedures into one area of the hospital: reducing waiting times, improving patient journey and increasing the number of procedures by 30%. The unit incorporates 6 theatres with shared scrub facilities, outpatient and pre-assessment spaces.
We are currently on-site delivering Phase 2 – a new Surgical Centre which will link into the existing hospital and includes theatres, outpatients and endoscopy unit. A time critical development, we are using modern methods of construction to bring the new facility into use by Spring 2023.
