Kier Construction held a Meet the Buyer event on 19th February 2019 at the Golden Jubilee Conference Centre. Fifty local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) attended the event to hear about how they could become involved on the Golden Jubilee Hospital Expansion Project. John McDonald, Healthcare Framework Manager gave an insight into the project, with Malcolm McPhail from Kier’s procurement team explaining the accreditation requirements and the high level of health and safety that Kier require from their supply chain. Gwen Blair, Social Impact Co-ordinator, explained about the community benefits that must be delivered as part of the project and how Kier can work collaboratively with the supply chain to deliver them. There was also an opportunity to speak directly with a Kier member of staff to gain more information regarding the project and how to become a member of the Kier supply chain database. Kier also invited Tigers (a local employability programme) and CITB to meet with the local SMEs at the event.
