Course Aims and Content
- Introduction and NHSScotland BIM Strategy refresh – This section will provide an overview of the NHSScotland BIM Strategy. This will include brief presentations on the NHSScotland BIM Strategy, the Employer’s Information Requirements (EIRs) Template, the BIM Protocol and the BIM Process Map.
- Checklist for setting up a BIM project and the workflow (PAS 1192: Part 2) – This section will provide a detailed presentation and discussions on how to set up a BIM project. Several key steps in the overall approach will be elaborated upon. A hands-on workshop will be conducted where the participants will work in groups on a project and go through the steps for setting it up as a BIM-driven project.
- EIR (Employer’s Information Requirements) – This section will be divided into two parts. The first half will consist of further elaboration on the EIR template in the context of a specific project followed by a hands-on workshop where the participants will get a chance to brainstorm how to specify the set of EIRs for the project.
- PLQs (Plain Language Questions) – Similar to the section on EIR, the first half of the session will elaborate on what PLQs are and their importance in the overall lifecycle of a BIM-enabled project. The latter half of the session will be a hands-on workshop where participants will get a chance to formulate some PLQs at different data drops for the same project.
- Master Information Delivery Plan and Levels of Detail – Similar to the section on PLQs, the first half of the session will elaborate on what MIDPs are and their importance and place in the overall lifecycle of a BIM-enabled project. The latter half of the session will be a hands-on workshop where participants will get a chance to formulate a small part of the overall MIDP for the same project.
- BEP (BIM Project Execution Plan) – Similar to the section on PLQs and MIDP, the first half of the session will elaborate what BEPs are and their relevance and use in the lifecycle of a BIM-enabled project. The latter half of the session will be a hands-on workshop where participants will get a chance to formulate the overall structure of BEP for the same project.
- COBie – This section will largely be a discussion on background to COBie as well as some COBie templates (based on PAS1192: Part 4) and how to output these from BIM software.Please note that a one off repeat session of this course (as well as one off repeat sessions of Course 1 and 2) will also be taking place in March 2016, and this will be advertised shortly.
